Terms of Use
Matisso.com · Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Last updated: [DATE]
Matisso.com (“Matisso,” the “Site,” “we,” “us”) is a product of Ampium LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Ampium LLC. By accessing or using the Site, its content, or its tools, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. What Matisso is, and what it is not
Matisso is a decision-support information platform. We publish educational guides, comparisons, and tools to help you make informed decisions about expensive and complex matters, including real-estate, legal, tax, and financial topics.
Matisso does not provide professional advice. Nothing on the Site is legal, tax, accounting, financial, investment, insurance, appraisal, or real-estate brokerage advice, and nothing on the Site is a substitute for advice from a licensed professional who knows your specific situation. Using the Site does not create an attorney-client, accountant-client, fiduciary, agency, or brokerage relationship of any kind between you and Ampium LLC, Matisso, or any contributor or reviewer.
Laws differ and change. Statutes, tax rates, court procedures, and deadlines vary by state, county, and municipality, and they change over time. We work to keep content accurate and to cite primary sources, but content may be incomplete, out of date, or inapplicable to your circumstances. Always confirm current requirements with the relevant government authority or a licensed professional before acting.
Your decisions are yours. You are solely responsible for any decision you make or action you take based on information from the Site, including decisions to buy, sell, hire, sign, or forgo any of those.
2. Tools, estimates, and calculators
Site tools (including the Cash-Offer Check) generate general, informational estimates from the inputs you provide and from publicly available data. Estimates are not appraisals, valuations, offers, quotes, or recommendations to accept or reject any transaction, and actual values, costs, taxes, and outcomes may differ materially. Tools may rely on assumptions that do not fit your property or situation. Do not rely on a tool output as the basis for a transaction without independent professional verification.
3. Accuracy, corrections, and no warranty
We build our guides from primary sources and cited expert publications, we identify review status where applicable, and we operate a public correction process. Even so, THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
4. Third-party content, links, and cited experts
The Site cites, quotes, and links to third-party sources, including government resources, publications, and professionals. Citation is not endorsement, and no cited person or organization is affiliated with, employed by, or responsible for Matisso unless we expressly say so. We are not responsible for third-party sites, their content, or their practices. Third-party trademarks belong to their owners.
5. Advertising, sponsorship, and compensation
The Site may display advertising and clearly labeled sponsored placements, and may earn affiliate commissions or other compensation from third parties. Compensation never determines our editorial guidance. Our How Matisso works page describes what sponsors can and cannot buy. Advertisers and sponsors are solely responsible for their own products, services, and claims, and your dealings with them are between you and them.
6. Your submissions
If you submit anything to the Site (including corrections, comments, outcome reports, tool inputs, and messages):
- You represent that your submission is truthful to the best of your knowledge, that you have the right to submit it, and that it does not violate any law or any third party’s rights, including confidentiality obligations. Do not submit information that is confidential or privileged.
- You grant Ampium LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, aggregate, and create derivative works from your submission in connection with operating and improving the Site, including publishing verified corrections and producing de-identified, aggregated data and statistics.
- We may edit, decline, or remove any submission at our discretion. If you request attribution for a verified correction, we may credit you by the name and affiliation you provide; we may also decline to publish attribution.
- Submissions do not create any confidential or professional relationship, and we have no obligation to act on them.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Site for any unlawful purpose; scrape, harvest, or bulk-download content or data except as permitted by our robots.txt; interfere with the Site’s operation or security; misrepresent your identity or affiliation; submit false corrections or fabricated information; use the Site to develop a competing dataset or service; or frame or mirror the Site without our written consent. Public search engines and AI systems may access and index the Site consistent with our robots.txt and llms.txt.
8. Intellectual property
The Site and its content, including text, guides, tools, design, structure, data compilations, and trademarks (including “Matisso”), are owned by Ampium LLC or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view, share links to, and quote brief excerpts of Site content with attribution and a link. Any other reproduction, distribution, or commercial use requires our prior written permission. Quoted third-party material remains the property of its owners.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) AMPIUM LLC, ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, REVIEWERS, AND CONTRIBUTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, LOST DATA, DIMINUTION IN VALUE, OR FAILED TRANSACTIONS, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR ITS CONTENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES; AND (b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ampium LLC and its members, managers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your submissions, your use of the Site, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
11. Dispute resolution; governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, conducted in Pennsylvania. YOU AND AMPIUM LLC AGREE THAT DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS, AND EACH WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION, CLASS ARBITRATION, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You may opt out of this arbitration provision by emailing legal@matisso.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. [COUNSEL REVIEW: consumer-facing sites should use AAA Consumer (not Commercial) Rules as drafted here; confirm enforceability specifics.]
12. Changes, termination, and general terms
We may modify the Site or these Terms at any time; the “Last updated” date reflects the current version. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice (typically 30 days) on this page and, where we have your email, by email. Continued use after changes is acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access for any violation of these Terms. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Ampium LLC regarding the Site. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
