How Matisso works

Trust isn't something we can just claim. So instead of asking you to take our word for it, here's exactly how every guide gets made, checked, and corrected, out in the open.

How guides are built

Every guide starts with primary sources: state statutes, court rulings, and the actual rules a revenue department publishes, not a paraphrase of them. Each legal or tax claim links to where it came from, and every page lists its sources at the bottom. When a state changes the answer, we write that state's real rules, not a national guess dressed up as one. We use modern tools, including AI, to draft and organize our guides, but every fact has to trace back to a real source, and a person checks each page before it goes live.

Expert Guidance and Real Experiences

Expert Guidance comes from primary sources and the published work of licensed professionals, cited so you can check it yourself. Real Experiences comes from people who've faced the same thing before you, in their own words, honestly sourced and always credited, so you see not just what should happen, but what actually did.

Review

When a licensed professional reviews a page, we say so, right in the byline, with their name and the date. Reviewers check our work. They don't write it, and they can't be paid to change it.

When we get it wrong

If a reader or a professional shows us something wrong, we verify it, fix the page, and log the change in public. If you'd like credit, we'll give it. To flag something, write to corrections@matisso.com.

How Matisso makes money

Matisso is free to read. We may run advertising, clearly labeled sponsorships, and earn a fee when we connect you with a licensed professional, always disclosed at the moment it happens. Three things don't bend: paid placement is always labeled, no one can buy better guidance or bury an alternative, and we won't take money from a business whose model depends on you staying confused.
